So you’re having a photo shoot at home? While most of the photos you see on my site are probably in the mountains, photo shoots at someone’s home are some of my favorite I’ve ever done, because they’re as much of an adventure as the great outdoors.

Here I have just a small guide to help inspire and prep you for your photo shoot!

Think about the things that you really love about your day-to-day life.

Baths in the tub or sink.
Reading books.
Folding/hanging laundry.
Feeding the animals.
Bicycling.
Porch Swing.
Board Games.
Picking Flowers.
Gardening.

Think about your favorite rooms or spots in your yard/farm.

Kitchen.
Living Room.
Game Room.
Bed Rooms.
Porch.
Swingset.
Barn.
Garden.
Driveway.

Think about THE QUIRKS YOU LOVE ABOUT EACH OTHER.

Hair twirling.
Ear-holding.
Hand holding.
Neck kisses.
Tongue sticking out when they’re thinking hard.
Freckles.
Eye wrinkles.
Big laughs.
Little giggles.

Don’t worry too much about making your home perfect - my photography is mostly documentary, so I love to photograph the real.

For the most part, I will work with natural window light, because using too many indoor lights can create odd lighting in photos. So I’ll try to be working near windows, and turn off most of the lights when I arrive.
