Katherine & Alex | Shenandoah National Park and River | Virginia Adventure Engagement Session

When Katherine reached out asking my to photograph her wedding, she told me all about their love for Shenandoah National Park. She said her mother would bring her there for spontaneous adventures, and when Katherine started dating Alex, they started their own annual trips there together. They knew the area well, which made me so happy. This was my first time back up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in almost a month, and going there with a couple who felt like they were also returning home made it so much sweeter. They even knew the backroads I took to get down to the river. Kat and Alex are all over, from the Carolinas to Florida and California, but they’ll be back in Virginia again for their wedding next year!

Mercy | Adventure Portraits | Sky Meadows State Park

We had to postpone this shoot by a day because of the rain, and when I got on location early to scout, it rained so much so quickly that it was flooding. There was no phone service, so calling Mercy to let her know to turn around wasn’t happening. It stopped raining minutes before she arrived, and we had a beautiful sunset with fog joining us for the shoot. It was magic, and so was she.

Ruthie & Anthony | Foggy Oregon Coast | Couple Adventure Session

We ran up and down dunes, and Ruth was QUEEN at quick poses and changes. She literally ran around with Anthony, chasing the light. My face hurt by the end, from smiling and laughing out of excitement. The fog, these two, it was perfect. I rode 2 hours each way with Ruth & Anthony out to the coast from Portland. We were expecting a bright sunset, with an abundance of warm, golden light. It was supposed to be 101 degrees that day. But when we arrived, it was dark and foggy - it was chilly. We couldn’t even see the famous Gooney rock out in the water at all.
