Reasons to Elope on a Weekday in Shenandoah National Park

The misconception that the only time you can say “I do,” is on the weekend, is something that started with big, traditional weddings. Honestly, it makes sense for those types of weddings.

I mean, if you have to accommodate over 100+ people, the easiest way to do that is by getting married on Saturday or Sunday, right?

But, here is the thing!

When you choose to go the less traditional route, you don’t have to accommodate a ton of people! Which, if I might add, opens up the option to elope on a week day! When you are have a mountain wedding in Shenandoah National Park, an elopement during the week is the best route to go!

5 Reasons why you should elope on a weekday in Shenandoah national park

I would like to preface this list by saying that ultimately, you need to do what will work best for you, your significant other, and your unique situation.

However, as an elopement photographer based in the Shenandoah National Park area, I have experienced pretty much everything there is to experience amid the park. I have found that one of the best options for your wedding is to elope on a week day.

ONE | LESS CROWDS

If you don’t know, Shenandoah National Park is definitely a fan favorite. Actually, on a list ranking the best United States national parks, created by CBS News, it was put at number 14 out of 62.

Like I said, Fan. Favorite.

Most of the time, crowds visit on weekends. This means that when you elope on a weekday, you are more likely to experience few run-ins with people in the park, on the roads, and basically everywhere else!

TWO | MORE VENDOR AVAILABILITY

Want to know the most popular dates to get booked out for wedding vendors? Yep, you guessed it: WEEKENDS.

If you have dream vendors you want to work with for your elopement, like :
- officiants who are willing to hike any time of day.
- a single bridal bouquet & boutonniere (it’s harder to find the availability on a weekend because florists are working on large orders for big weddings).
- a small cake or other dessert for a small group or for just the two of you.
- an amazing, hiking videographer (again, they normally save their weekends for larger weddings).

I promise that you best bet is to opt for a weekday elopement. That way you can truly have the adventure wedding you have hoped for!

THREE | PLACES TO STAY

Lodging availability is no joke. Unless you are into car camping, let me suggest looking into booking Monday - Friday. Have you ever tried getting lodging on a weekend? Available days are super hit or miss and you are sure to experience price gauging at is finest.

FOUR | TAKE A BREAK FROM WORK

Most of the time, companies have a “if you don’t use it, you lose it,” policy. I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a better way to you your hard earned paid time off than for your elopement.

Elope on a week day and make it a vacation! You deserve to celebrate!

FIVE | SAVING SOME MONEY

Elopements are significantly cheaper than traditional weddings. However, let’s be real here! No one wants to spend more money than they absolutely have to! Especially in this economy!

So do yourself a favor. Elope on a week day and save yourself the pain of dealing with the weekend prices!
