Macy & Mark | Fall Sunrise Couple Session | Shenandoah National Park

I am up on the Shenandoah National Park nearly every week, sometimes multiple times a week, and every time I am there it is different. The sunrises are different within themselves, and they are very, very different from the sun sets. Sometimes the fog sits in this valley, sometimes it has engulfed the entire mountain, sometimes the sunrise is blue, and sometimes - though rarely - it is this clear, firey orange.

This was one of my mini sessions, and I am so very thankful that Macy and Mark traveled almost 2 hours and even got here on time so early in the morning so that we could witness this crazy sunrise together. Also, their style is on point.

Sarah & Evan | Shenandoah National Park | Maternity Session

I used to work at the cafe in the college Sarah worked for, and I’d see her nearly every day, whether she was walking buy or stopping in for a drink. I remember when Evan first started working at the college too, and seeing him stopping in nearly every day, then sometimes the two of them visiting together. AND NOW they’re married, with a sweet little one on the way. It was so, so wonderful to see the both of them. It’s always been a hoot with Sarah, and she brightened up my day yet again.

This was one of my first times offering a mini session, and I was glad as heck that these three were a part of it (:

Grace | High School Senior Portraits | Urban Downtown and Mountain Top Sunset | Shenandoah National Park

I feel like senior sessions should capture who you were growing up and where you are now. So, Grace and I ran all around downtown Luray, the town she’s grown up in, to find all the most meaningful and pretty freaking awesome spots. From the back of the art gallery and coffee shop to the old staircases she remembered going up for church events, and to the used bookstore. I wanted to find locations that reminded me of her, and I think we ticked them all. We even went up on the Shenandoah National Park (where it had reached freezing) and only stayed there for a short time before going back down into the Valley - all while listening to her favorite band, BTS. We picked up her dog Finn and went to her grandma’s back yard to swing and run around a bit in the field as the sun finally set. It was my all-time favorite senior session, because we were able to fit in so many locations, so many pieces of her.
